Baritone.

The Slovenian Matjaz Robavs baritone, started his education at the Conservatory in Ljubljana and studied at the Vienna Music Univercity teached by Helena Łazarska and Robert Holl.

Matjaz Robavs is the winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the first prize at the Austrian "Young Musicians" - Competition, the International Ada Sari Vocal Competition in Poland and in s`Hertogenbosch Competition in Holland, where he was also awarded a prize as the best song singer.

Matjaz Robavs has occurred in many European opera houses, including Zurich, Vienna (Volksoper and the Theater an der Wien), Schwerin, Antwerp, Wexford, Baden - Baden, Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt.

He sang roles such as Papageno and Speaker (Die Zauberflöte), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Count (The Marriage of Figaro), Kilian (Freischütz), Dr. Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Germont (La Traviata), Ping (Turandot ), Scaunard (La Boheme), Dancaire (Carmen), Peter (Hansel and Gretel), the title role in Weinberger's Schwanda, the Bagpiper, Officier (Dialogues of the Carmelites), Poliferno in Agostino Stefannis Niobe, Regina di Tebe and number four in Henze The betrayal of the sea.

A highlight of his career so far made his highly acclaimed by the press interpretation of Shishkov in Janacek's "Aus einem Totenhaus" at the Zurich Opera in 2011.

In addition, Matjaz Robavs guested at several festivals, including the Charintische Sommer, Wratislavia Cantans, Festival of Polish Music in Krakow, the International Baroque Festival in Varazdin (Croatia), the Wexford Opera Festival, the Zomeropera Alden Biesen in Belgium, the Lucerne Festival and the Whitsun Festival Baden - Baden.

Among the conductors with whom he has collaborated are: Hengelbrock T., I. Metzmacher, B. Kontarsky, J. Reynolds, B. de Billy, K. Penderecky, P. Stangel count, etc.

Matjaz Robavs performed cncernts throughout Europe, and Japan and Canada.

His recordings include four solo - CD's and two opera recordings (Schwanda, the bagpipers and Niobe, Regina di Tebe).

He teaches at the Music Academy of the University of Ljubljana.
