Angelo Gabrielli

He graduated in Saxophone playing at the Conservatory “G. B. Martini” of Bologna in 1977 while the same time, he studying Musicology and Economics at the Bologna University, then he went on to specialized in the Music Management Master Course at the Music School in Fiesole.

He worked as assistant to the artistic director and production office at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna from 1985 to 1987.

In 1987, he founded with Adua Veroni, Stage Door Opera Management, one of the most important agencies in the national and international opera management panorama. In these years he managed and develop engaged of prestigious artists such as: Luciano Pavarotti, Raina Kabaivanska, Mirella Freni, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Barbara Frittoli, Sara Mingardo, Reneè Fleming and Giuseppe Sabbatini. M° Gabrielli launched careers of conductors that would become important conductors of the international scene as Daniele Gatti, Marco Armiliato, Maurizio Benini and Vladimir Jurowski.

He is often invited as a jury member or chairman in major singing competitions such as Queen Elizabeth Competition, International Competition for Young Opera Singers Galina Vishnevskaya, International “Tchaikovsky” Competition of Moscow. Angelo Gabrielli teaches Saxophone and Arts Management at the Istituto di Alta Formazione “Tonelli- Vecchi” in Modena. He gives masterclasses on Music Promotion at Italian universities and conducts singing courses.

Angelo Gabrielli is artistic director of Sestola InCanto.

Since 1975 he has been member of Quartetto Italiano di Sassofoni with whom he recorded a disc produced for Bongiovanni and performed in numerous festivals, including the World Saxophone Festival in Pesaro. In 1981 he won the Saxophone auditions in Arena di Verona, where he has worked as a soloist until 1987. ith the Symphonic Toscanini Orchestra he took part in an important tour across the East Germany, performing as a Sax Tenor in the major concert halls in Berlin, Dresden and Leipzig. He recorded Milonga with Paolo Conte at R.C.A. studios in Rome and played with the Hight Society Swing Orchestra at the Jazz Groups Finals Evening organized by R.A.I. in Milan. Antonio Gabrielli continues to maintain his activity as a soloist and a member of small ensembles including the Saxophone Italian Quartet, the first Italian ensemble playing a classical saxophone repertoire.
