He completed music and musicological studies, and obtained an academic education, which enabled his long-term scientific work. He taught theater arts at the University of Strasbourg; he was also a translator ( i.a. outline for a New Musical Aesthetics by Busoni and The Danger of Futurism by Pfitzner) and participated in numerous conferences in France and other countries; along with his students, he made several exhibitions (including on the timing of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, The Heritage Park in Alsace and 35 Years of Opera)a tribute to Jean-Pierre Ponnelle). At the same time, he worked with the Théâtre du Maillon and Musica Festival in Strasbourg. As a music critic, he used a multitude of his artistic interests. He contributed, i.a., to the Opéra International and Opernwelt magazines.

In 1991, he became the Artistic Advisor at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, and in 1997 – the Deputy General Director. In Salzburg and opera in Zurich, he was a collaborator of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and Werner Herzog. He executed performances in Bayreeuth, Munich, San Francisco and Houston. His works as an assistant of Renate Ackermann include Tosca in cooperation with the opera in Mannheim, Lucia di Lammermoor in Rouen and Virgin of Orleans. With Dieter Dorn, he prepared Salome at the Teatro San Carlos in Lisbon, when the capital of Portugal was the European Capital of Culture in 1994. In June 2005, at the Vienna Volksoper, he directed The Merry Widow, celebrating the centenary of its premiere. He also prepared decorations and lighting for the spectacle.

In the 2009/2010 season, he was appointed as the Advisor and Playwright at the Grand Théâtre du Geneva. He is also the Assistant to the General Director of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf.
