Jan Henric Bogen
Jan Henric Bogen was born in 1983 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. At a young age, he developed his passion for classical music, especially opera; he played piano and viola, and sang throughout his school and university education. After graduating high school he studied law and musicology at the universities of Heidelberg and Cologne, and followed courses at the HfMT Hamburg in cultural management. During his professional career, Jan Henric Bogen held different positions that required both artistic and administrative competences. He worked as marketing manager and dramaturge at Theater Hagen, artist manager at Parnassus Arts Productions in Vienna, deputy general manager and head of artistic planning at Staatstheater Nürnberg. He taught stage law at the University of Bayreuth and theatre management at the Bayerische Theaterakademie in Munich. At present he teaches methodology at the International Opera Academy in Gent. Between 2016 and 2021 Jan Henric Bogen held the position of deputy artistic director opera and casting manager at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Antwerp/Gent, Belgium. Concurrently, he was Intendant of the Kurt Weill Fest in Dessau, Germany, curating festival editions for 2020 and 2021. During his tenure, he focussed on rejuvenating the festival by showcasing more diverse artists and formats. In the fall of 2019 he was named artistic director for opera at Theater St. Gallen. His tenure there will start in 2021/2022.
